Many images do not need advanced retouching. They only need small adjustments to brightness, contrast, saturation, or sharpness. These settings can fix dark photos, gray screenshots, dull colors, and slightly unclear edges.
Brightness controls overall lightness. Increase it when an image is too dark, reduce it when the image is too bright. It cannot fully restore details that were never captured.
Contrast controls the difference between light and dark areas. More contrast can make text and shapes clearer, but too much contrast can crush shadows and highlights.
Saturation controls color intensity. A small increase can make photos more vivid. Too much saturation makes colors unrealistic, especially skin tones.
Sharpness enhances edges and can make text or details look clearer. It should be used lightly because over-sharpening creates halos and noise.
Adjust brightness first, then contrast, then saturation, and finally sharpness. Small, controlled changes usually produce the most natural result.
